Form factor options to fit any need
200G bandwidth hardware is available in QSFP56 and QSFP28-DD form factors, while 400G will be available on QSFP56-DD, OSFP, and CFP8. The 400G QSFP56-DD, also called QSFP-DD, is likely to be adopted as the primary form factor for access and intra-data center segments while CFP8 will be used for DCI (DataCenter Interconnect) intended installations.
With compatible pluggable form factors deployed for both platforms, moving from 200G to 400G with AddOn transceivers is a seamless experience. PAM4 & gearbox technologies
Two key technologies are available in our fiber optic transceivers to enable such high speed, high bandwidth solutions as 400G—PAM4 & gearboxes. Pulse Amplitude Modulation 4 (PAM4) schemes enable 400G by empowering waveforms to carry two bits instead of one, improving bitrates, while gearboxes convert bitrates to carry more or less data lines per a pre-configured ratio.
